Theo’s Pixie Tale
Play Me.
Read Me.
In a teeny tiny tale
In a land not far away
There lives a little boy
Theo is his name
His mother is a fairy
His father is a fae
And he is more a pixie
In his special mischievous way
. . . . .
They live under a toadstool
In the middle of a glen
Surrounded by their family
And next door to all their friends
They love to dance and sing
They love to play pretend
They love to hide and seek
And build dandelion dens
. . . . .
Now Theo has a sidekick
A hairy four legged chum
And whenever Theo calls him
Yoda will run!
Yoda is a doggy
A slobbery, loyal bud
And the two venture daily
Together they have such fun
. . . . .
Today is early springtime
The boys are hanging out
They wander from the glen
To see what they can scout
Theo wants to fish
He wants to catch a trout
So they saunter to a stream
Which Yoda sniffs out with his snout
. . . . .
No sooner are they there
That a glimmer passes by
It lights up all the water
It catches Theo’s eye
“A fish!” He calls out gladly
“A fish the colour of sky!”
“Let’s catch it Yoda, quickly,
Let’s make a fishy pie!”
. . . . .
Theo hurries this way
Yoda flounders that
And with a hop a skip a jump
They make an almighty splash
The fish spies them coming
She turns in seconds flat
But Theo tumbles forward
And gets a fishy piggy back!
. . . . .
They spin around in circles,
Bubbles fizzing everywhere
Theo holds on tightly
Swallowing gulps of fishy air
She tries her best to daze him
Whizzing here and zigging there
But Theo is a brave one
Theo isn’t scared
. . . . .
Moments pass and suddenly
The fish slows her swim
She turns her eyes to Theo
She looks at nothing but him
He smiles at her, amused,
With His usual charming whim
And then she flutters forward
They begin to swim upstream
. . . . .
Theo grips her scales
The fish picks up speed
As she glides along the current
Yoda sloshes through the reeds
“Where are we going Yoda?
“Where do you think she leads?”
But Yoda simply shrugs
It’s a mystery indeed
. . . . .
Theo looks around
From atop his fishy ride
And the vision that greets him
Boggles his pixie mind
An underwater world
Is what his eyes espy
And he gasps amazed, astounded
At the beauty that he finds
. . . . .
Colours bright and deep
Aqua greens, coral blues
The light a dappled shadow
Showing sights so rare and new
Fishies big and small
Swimming swiftly into view
A world of awe and wonder
So majestic and so true
. . . . .
Theo looks to Yoda
Who is equally amazed
His eyes all big and startled
In a bewildered doggy daze
Theo can’t believe it
What a magical beautiful place!
A universe submerged
Just a stone’s throw away
. . . . .
The fish looks back at Theo
And with a smile, she winks,
She turns towards the reeds
She flutters her fishy fins
They dive down to the deep
Where are they going? Theo thinks
And then his eyes grow large
All he can do is blink
. . . . .
A host of watery creatures
Are at the bottom of the stream
Gathered all together
Like an underwater dream
Newts and toads and tadpoles
Salmon, trout and bream
They look like they’re having a party!
An aquatic one it would seem!
. . . . .
The newts dance with the crayfish
As the toads ribbit a beat
A crab is strumming reeds
While a frog taps his feet
The salmon shimmy proudly
The trout try to compete
But are outshone by the tadpoles
They’re so tiny and so sweet!
. . . . .
Theo stares in wonder
What an extraordinary sight!
Molluscs having a mingle
And snails stealing the limelight
His fish swims him toward them
Like a horse and Theo a knight
The river folk are overjoyed
A pixie has joined, what a delight!
. . . . .
Theo disembarks
From atop his scaly guide
He swims down to the others
Yoda follows by his side
The creatures greet them kindly
Giving smiles and high fives
And then they’re welcomed to the dance floor
What a brilliant surprise !
. . . . .
Theo throws his favourite shapes
Strutting here and there
Yoda does a doggy dance
With his own distinctive flare
The two together prance and swing
The crowd watch and cheer
Never have the fish seen such a sight
What an entertaining pair!
. . . . .
All at once the fish join in
They dance and sing together
They form a circle around the pair
With Theo at the centre
They bob and boogie, twist and shout
They waltz, they rock, they samba
Everyone is smiling now
Even the sulky salamander!
. . . . .
The fish who brought them glides toward
And winks in her special way
And Theo feels a pang of guilt
He should think of something to say
“I’m sorry that I tried to catch you
You’ve given us such a good day
Can we be friends instead of dinner?
What do you reckon? Hmm? What dya say?”
. . . . .
The fish smiles and slowly nods
With her effortless ease and grace
And Theo grins right back
A big old smile on his pixie face
The two of them begin to dance
Everything in its right place
A warm and happy feeling
It feels great to be good mates
. . . . .
After a while Theo starts to yawn
He’s beginning to feel rather tired
It’s all well and good being a party animal
But even the best must retire
He decides it’s time to go back up there
Up where the world is drier
He hollers for Yoda and they say their farewells
It’s his bed that he now requires
. . . . .
“Well what a day!” says Theo
As they reach the grassy shore
Yoda woofs in agreement
He couldn’t agree any more
“Who’d of thought we’d make fishy friends?
And take over the whole dance floor?
That’s a day well spent right there, Yoda,
Here’s to many many more!”
Thank you.
